Position Details

The Department of Pediatrics of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC (CHP) is seeking an internationally recognized clinician scientist to lead the Division of Adolescent Medicine. This position will command extensive resources for the research program of the Director and for running the clinical services, fellowship and research programs of the division. The Division also plays a major role in the teaching of medical students, residents and training of mid-level providers. It maintains academic relationships with strong programs in General Academic Pediatrics, Infectious Diseases, Endocrinology and Weight Management within the Department of Pediatrics as well as with extensive intellectual programs in the area of adolescent health within the Departments of Medicine, Psychiatry and Obstetrics/Gynecology. The division also benefits from a well-established practice based research network (CTSI Pediatric PittNet) which includes community and academic practices serving over 150,000 children, on-site research personnel and a highly successful track record of recruitment into clinical studies. The qualified candidate will have an internationally competitive publication record as well as success in competing for extramural grants. The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is enjoying unparalleled growth in its research, clinical and academic missions. Of more than 3,000 institutions nationwide, the University is currently ranked 5th in NIH funding. It was awarded a Clinical Translational Science Institute by NIH in the very first round of funding. The Department of Pediatrics/Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh is ranked 7th in NIH funding among all children’s hospital and pediatric research programs. It moved into the new Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh campus in May 2009. The new campus includes new ambulatory facilities, inpatient tower, faculty and administrative office building as well as a new 300,000-square foot pediatric research building. A new Center for Clinical Investigation is being created on the campus. CHP was recently recognized on the honor roll of US News and World Report, making it one of the elite 8 children’s hospitals in the US. Academic credentials should qualify the candidate for faculty appointment at the level of Associate Professor or Professor.
