Position Details

The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), a major teaching hospital of the University of Pittsburgh, is seeking a Chief of the Division of Adult Cardiac Surgery. UPMC is a national and international leader in patient care, basic science, clinical trials and translational research. The ideal candidate will have a strong adult cardiac surgery background with an interest in minimally invasive cardiac surgery, endovascular cardiac surgery, valve repair, arrhythmia surgery, robotic cardiac surgery. The candidate must possess strong leadership skills to direct and work collaboratively with the cardiac faculty at all Department clinical sites, UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside, UPMC Passavant, UPMC Mercy and the VAMC. The candidate must have a commitment to medical student, cardiothoracic and general surgical resident and advanced fellow teaching and clinical training and is expected to have a significant role in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency Program. The candidate must have an established research record and demonstrated ability to contribute to designing and pursuing innovative research studies. The successful candidate must possess academic credentials to support an appointment at, or above, the Associate Professor level and be American Board of Thoracic Surgery certified.
