Position Details

The Division of Anatomic Pathology of University of Pittsburgh Medical Center – Presbyterian of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is seeking a pathologist, board certified in Anatomic Pathology, with specialty training and academic interest in Gastrointestinal Pathology, exclusive of hepatic pathology. UPMC – Presbyterian is the major teaching hospital of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Health System and it is responsible for 46,000 surgical accessions with a significant GI caseload (approximately 15,000 cases). The candidate would be primarily responsible for signout of biopsies and resection specimens along with six other committed GI pathologists, on a bench exclusively devoted to gastrointestinal pathology as part of our Center of Excellence model. Involvement in clinicopathologic studies, collaborations with clinician scientists and teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students is essential. Candidates would have extensive involvement in translational molecular pathology utilizing the shared resources of our molecular anatomic pathology and FISH laboratories. Individuals would be provided with a significant start-up package with guaranteed protected time. A record of commitment to scholarly activities and publications is essential The Department provides state-of-the-art research resources in immunohistochemistry, FISH, topographic genotyping, confocal microscopy, array CGH, and microchip analysis. The applicant should be a US citizen or permanent resident.
