Position Details

The Department of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) is recruiting a full-time faculty member to join the Division of Molecular Anatomic Pathology in the rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor (tenure or non-tenure depending on qualifications). The Division of Molecular Anatomic Pathology offers more than 15 different tests mostly in the area of molecular oncology and processes over 2,000 samples each year. It also supports research programs on cancer genetics using the traditional molecular biology and novel array-based methodologies. The Department of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh (www.path.upmc.edu) supports excellence in both clinical service and research. As the hub of Pathology laboratories for 15 hospitals of the UPMC system, it maintains a network of Centers of Excellence, all of which closely interact with the Division of Molecular Anatomic Pathology. The department also supports research for its members with shared resources including genomics facilities, tissue biology resources, shared instrumentation, etc. the Department was ranked 4th in the nation for NIH funding last year. We are seeking a funded investigator with an established research program in any area of tissue biology who will also participate in signout of molecular tests. Additional responsibilities will include teaching of pathology fellows, residents, and medical students. Applicants must hold an M.D. or M.D./PhD. Degrees, be board certified in pathology, preferably in AP, and qualified to obtain a medical license in Pennsylvania.
