Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s Office of Research is seeking a qualified candidate for the Federal Contracts Senior Coordinator (FCSC) position who will perform team intake tasks, review contracts and internal University paperwork, and verify budgets and agreements for conformance with the sponsor and internal requirements. This position is the main POC for the Federal Contracts team for incoming and backend processing for the entire team. The FCSC acts as the quality assurance check of the team, including checks of compliance items.

The incumbent must be detail oriented. This position requires appropriate tact and circumspection, efficiency, and the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks, sometimes with competing deadlines. Candidate must have strong working computer knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, the Internet, and Email. The incumbent must maintain scrupulous attention to detail, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work well with all levels of faculty/staff in the various departments and schools within the University and external contracting agencies.

BS/BA or a combination of training and experience. Knowledge of contractual provisions strongly desired. Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills are a must to convey information and make requests for necessary changes with accuracy and confidence. Knowledge of Windows PC applications required especially “track changes” in Word.

1-3 years of contracts, grant or research experience is preferred. Must be detail oriented and able to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment. Must also exercise analytical skills to evaluate and integrate information on various forms. Extensive communication skills to apply directly with contract sponsors, faculty, and staff required. Mathematical aptitude and organizational skills needed. Accounting or post award research training is helpful.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
