Position Description

The School of Medicine Administration is seeking a qualified candidate for the Director of Research Administration position.

This position supports financial research and research-related activities for the Schools of the Health Sciences and reports directly to the Associate Senior Vice Chancellor for Administration.

The incumbent will be responsible for the oversight of pre-award and post-award activities; recharge centers, management and support of data systems, and training activities. The position manages a staff team of fourteen members. Overall the position requires a self-starter and problem solver capable of interacting with administrators and faculty within the Schools of the Health Sciences, University central administration offices as well as contacts from governmental agencies and corporations.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Should possess a bachelor’s level degree in business administration or at least 15 years of experience in an academic setting specifically in research and financial administration. Must have an extensive knowledge of research and cost accounting business practices and procedures.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
