Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Medicine, Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology Division is seeking an Administrative Manager to work in collaboration with the Division Chief and director of the UPMC/Pitt Rheumatoid Arthritis and UPMC/Pitt Vasculitis Centers and the Division Administrator.

Duties range from management of new faculty recruitment, oversight of projects such as the Department of Medicine’s Annual Report, oversight of special lectures (Levy lecture, etc.), and management of the Division’s Grand Rounds. The incumbent will plan and manage special symposiums, workshops or other events. He/she will work in collaboration with the Division Chief on facilitating faculty annual reviews, faculty promotions and other special projects. The incumbent will have oversight of junior staff and students and will be responsible for managing the budgets of the Division’s academic operations as well as the Rheumatoid/Arthritis and Vasculitis Centers.

This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, a high level of professionalism, and the ability to handle multiple tasks while working independently, consistently and efficiently.

A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional and/or administrative experience is required. Experience in an academic or research setting is preferred.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
