Position Description

The Hillman Library is seeking a qualified candidate for the Student Employment Specialist position.

The incumbent will serves primarily as the contact for oversight of University Library Systems (ULS) student employment actions on the Oakland campus for approximately 200 student employees reporting to the Personnel Coordinator. This position manages all student postings, hires, and student Payroll actions utilizing PittSource and Prism.

The incumbent will also be expected to provide support for special projects, including reports requiring student personnel statistical data using a variety of spreadsheets and databases. This position works with extremely confidential personnel information and files thus confidentiality is a high priority. Duties will require frequent independent action and non-routine judgment calls.

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 1-2 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Associate Degree is recommended and 1 year relevant administrative experience (3 years relevant administrative experience can be substituted for education requirement). Demonstrated ability to learn and effectively use online systems. Demonstrated ability to work with variety of people, and adjust to interruptions throughout the day.
One year relevant administrative experience with Associate Degree; 3 years relevant administrative experience without educational degree.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
