Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh, Career Development and Placement Assistance is seeking a qualified candidate for the Administrative Assistant position.

The incumbent will handle executive and administrative responsibilities for the Associate Dean of Student Affairs/Director of the Office of Career Development and Placement Assistance.

Duties include;
-Processing correspondences
-Maintaining the Associate Dean/Director’s routine correspondences
-Providing excellent customer service in person and over the phone
-Maintaining supply inventories
-Responding to inquiries

Reporting directly to the Associate Dean/Director, this position requires confidentiality, discretion, accuracy, and strong customer-service orientation. Other duties as assigned include acting as the backup for the departmental receptionist.

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 1-2 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

At least 1-2 years of office experience required. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions accurately and thoroughly. Must be proficient in Microsoft software, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook. Excellent typing, communication skills (oral and written), English and grammar skills are required.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.

Background Check For position finalists, employment with the University will require successful completion of a background check.
