Position Description

The Department of Surgery, Chairman’s Research Division is seeking a laboratory technician to provide a wide array of technical support for various clinical studies. Responsibilities to include the following:

- project and specimen management
- processing of specimen (blood, tissue) per established protocol
- sample intake, logging, retrieval and delivery as needed

The incumbent will also assist the team with translational research experiments, ELISA, and Luminex as well as provide other technical support as needed. In addition, the incumbent will assist with maintaining and purchasing lab supplies, managing datasets, and specimen management.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.

Incumbent may be part of a team that may have an oncall rotation to retrieve and process blood samples within 2 hours of collection. Usual hours to be 8-4:30
