Position Description

In the Boyle lab we use genetics, comparative genomics, and cell biological approaches to determine how intracellular pathogens like Toxoplasma gondii cause disease. This appointment is for a research technician with experience in laboratory research and knowledge in cell culture and molecular biology techniques such as PCR, qPCR, Western Blot, Immunofluorescence assay, protein expression, and purification. Previous experience with small animals and culturing Toxoplasma gondii is required.

The position responsibilities include executing independent data collection, processing, and analysis as well as assisting with ongoing research projects in the lab. Laboratory organization and administrative management are also a requirement for this position, including ordering/shipping, samples reception, and inventory oversight. The ideal candidate must have previous experience in lab management.

Supervision and assistance of undergraduate student as well as incoming lab members is expected and therefore the ideal candidate must have prior knowledge of how to work with Toxoplasma gondii and cell lines that are routinely used in our laboratory
