Position Description

The Assistant to the Provost position will provide a high level of administrative support, organization, and management of faculty affairs and faculty development actions, committee meeting organization and staff support, coordination and management of faculty events and data analysis and reporting.

The incumbent is expected to work independently, consistently, and efficiently within the prescribed University of Pittsburgh and Office of the Provost’s policies and procedures, Faculty Handbook, and University ByLaws. The actions taken by this individual will reflect directly on the Vice Provost and the image of the office.

Exceptional attention to detail, multitasking, and sense of urgency are imperative. The incumbent must represent the office with a welcoming, cordial and professional demeanor and have good verbal communication skills in addition to the ability to adapt quickly in an ever-changing environment and provide input on areas of opportunity and improvement as part of the overall team. Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills are critical.

Bachelor’s degree with significant experience writing and editing in a professional/academic setting.
