Position Description

Reporting to the Dean of GSPIA, the Director of Events and Special Projects serves in a highly visible and senior position to support the mission and priorities of the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs.

The Director is responsible for developing, planning, organizing and implementing events within the Dean’s Office and the School, both locally and globally. The incumbent will manage and provide on-going leadership for event and event-related functions including marketing, communications, social media, and public relations. The Director is charged with collaborating with the Dean of GSPIA regarding special projects and initiatives that support the overall strategic goals of the School and that align with the University’s mission and vision. The Director is also responsible for evaluating events and projects and identifying opportunities to increase effectiveness and ways to further increase success.

Serving as the Advisor to the Student Cabinet, the Director supervises elected student leaders. On a daily basis, the Director will oversee student cabinet leaders and initiatives, ensuring alignment with school objectives, providing guidance and authorizing actions as necessary.

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, communications. Experience in fundraising and/or alumni relations.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
