Position Description

The mission of the Department of Immunology at the University of Pittsburgh is to discover new mechanisms and pathways of the immune system to enrich human health by combating and preventing disease, enhancing vaccination, and controlling autoimmunity. The department has a mission of training students, post-doctoral fellows, physicians, and other young scientists to be proficient in immunology.

The Department of Immunology is seeking a qualified Research Technician. The Research Technician will primarily be responsible for the collection and analysis of data for specified research projects in a Cellular and Molecular Cancer Immunology lab. The incumbent properly conducts specific research experiments and maintains efficient laboratory operations. The specific research area of this work is focused on the T cell receptor and inhibitory receptors in the context of the tumor microenvironment.

Experience or interest working with tumor models is desired. Background in molecular biology and immunology is preferred. Other duties may be assigned or directed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the lab.

• Experience in immunology, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or other related field is beneficial
• Knowledge of mathematical and chemical principles
• Computer literate

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
