Position Description

The incumbent is responsible for the oversight of all administrative aspects of the departmental budget (planning, recording, reconciling, projecting); oversight of discretionary accounts, scholarship accounts, and cost center account; oversight of all administrative aspects of the departmental grant funding (both pre-award and post-award); oversight of all purchasing functions.

This position is also responsible for departmental personnel management administrative functions, including full-time, part-time, temporary, and adjunct faculty, and staff, oversight of all payroll processing functions for all employees, and assisting the Department Chair, Vice Chairs, and faculty with report writing and preparation.

The incumbent functions independently in managing administrative responsibilities, with minimal or no supervision, and must be able to manage, prioritize and coordinate several activities and projects and perform tasks simultaneously. Knowledge of budget preparation and management are essential. Knowledge of effective oral and written skills are required as is the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field with three to five years of experience with Departmental and/or research accounting as well as supervisory and senior level work experience. This position requires the appropriate application of broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in the field of accounting, research budgeting and accounting and pre- and post-research award administration. Certification as a Research Administrator (CRA) is preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Must possess thorough knowledge of office procedures, purchasing, financial and budget reports. Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently. High degree of accuracy and careful attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem solving skills necessary. Ability to coordinate various activities and perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality is essential. Knowledge of, and experience in the rehabilitation field is preferred, as is familiarity with academic and clinical research.
