Position Description

The University for Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy’s Program Evaluation and Research Unit (PERU) is seeking a qualified Research Specialist to conduct overdose prevention research. The incumbent will work with outside stakeholders to implement, evaluate, and sustain illicit drug supply, demand, and overdose reduction programs.

The incumbent will be responsible for working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and will be responsible for:
- Learning and utilizing a systems transformation framework to drive effective programming across Pennsylvania;
- Creating effective collaboration between diverse stakeholders with tools, resources, and training provided by PERU;
- Conducting overdose prevention research resulting in reports, publications, training workshops, and policy briefs;
- Organizing and facilitating training and regional conferences;
- Developing and updating web-based resources through OverdoseFreePA and other media platforms; and
- Data management.

Education Required Master's
Minimum Related Experience Level Required 1-2 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Master’s degree in health care or human services field. Experience in drug abuse treatment or prevention field preferred. Good organizational and communication skills are essential.

Required Licenses/Certifications

Valid PA driver’s license.
Criminal background clearances.

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.

Background Check For position finalists, employment with the University will require successful completion of a background check.
