Position Description

The Assistant Teacher/substitute position involves providing coverage in infant, toddler or preschool classrooms due to scheduled and unscheduled absences of Center staff. The incumbent will support the typical daily program in each classroom as scheduled, support the efforts of the head, associate, and assistant teachers, and may be required to supervise University students. They will also be required to communicate with parents at the end of the day, plan for daily activities, supervise indoor and outdoor play and excursions, and ensure the safety of each child under their direct supervision. The position hours are 1:00 pm-6:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Staff members are required to maintain 24 hours of professional development during their employment, and uphold all state licensing requirements, NAEYC standards, and Keystone Stars requirements.

NOTE: The hiring range is for full-time positions and will be prorated based on 66% effort.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Incumbent must have a High School Diploma or GED and a CDA Credential or higher, including 15 ECE credits. Applicant must have experience with children from birth-5 years old.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
