Position Description

The Alumni Engagement Specialist is responsible for the coordination of alumni and student engagement opportunities to support the initiatives of the Office of Career Development and Placement Assistance (CDPA). Opportunities include networking events and programs to facilitate alumni and student connection, facilitating career mentoring opportunities between alumni and students, building and maintaining relationships with student organizations on campus, managing the Alumni In Residence program, as well as educating participants on how to successfully cultivate relationships. To ensure the success of events and programs, the incumbent will grow and support a strong network of alumni volunteers and alumni employers– both locally and regionally—to engage alumni-to- student and alumni-to-alumni connections in person and digitally.

Responsibilities include:

- Developing and fostering relationships with alumni to engage them through CDPA events
- Managing and promoting the Alumni In Residence Program
- Coordinating alumni and student engagement opportunities in Pittsburgh, New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago, Washington D.C., and other markets as identified
- Market alumni and student engagement opportunities like niche networking events, Alumni Skype Series, and Alumni Lunch and Learns to recruit participants
- Within the department, serve as the key contact for mentorship pilots, programs, and platforms designed to connect students to alumni
- Collaborate and build relationships with student organizations to partner on networking opportunities
- Advise the Career Development Society for Young Professionals.
- Supervise student worker
- Serve as a liaison to the Pitt Alumni Association

Some travel and transportation to events may be required.

Education Required Baccalaureate
Minimum Related Experience Level Required 2-3 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Bachelor’s degree, related administrative experience and strong computer skills including a working understanding of the web and database utilization. Strong written and oral communication skills. Recognizable leadership skills and professional poise necessary. Organizational and time management skills required. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community partners, corporate contacts, and most commonly University officials, staff, faculty, students, parents, and alumni. Ability to work independently or as a member of a team. Must enjoy heavy client contact, and knowledge of business operations and staffing within companies. Proven record of successful relationship building. Marketing experience and knowledge of alumni relations, career services, and event planning are desirable.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
