Position Description

The Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Project Manager to oversee the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) project.

The incumbent will serve as Project Manager for a pragmatic, cluster-randomized trial of provider-targeted interventions to prevent unsafe opioid prescribing for acute non-cancer pain in adult patients at 48 outpatient clinics across 3 health systems (UPMC, Geisinger Health System, University of Utah Health). They will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI), all members of the project team (including PaTH Network staff), the Stakeholder Advisory Committee, the Data Safety and Monitoring Board, and the funding agency (PCORI) staff so that the development and implementation of the project proceed on schedule. They will supervise staff, monitor and coordinate activities with the Geisinger and Utah sites, track timeline and PCORI milestone/deliverable progress, and upload project documents and reports to the PCORI Online portal.

The incumbent will be responsible, along with the PI, for the day-to-day operations of the project and will work with the PI and other members of the project team, Geisinger and Utah site team members, the Stakeholder Advisory Committee, and PCORI staff to mitigate problems and overcome barriers. They will attend all regular meetings, coordinate the preparation of all necessary IRB applications, coordinate team and Stakeholder Advisory Group meetings, and assist with the preparation of presentations, reports, and dissemination materials. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the production of study forms and Manual of Procedures (MOP).

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Masters Degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Five years of relevant research experience required. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) and knowledge of medical terminology required. Previous research patient coordinator and/or data coordinating center experience preferred. The ability to travel to the Geisinger and Utah sites once per year is also required.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
