Position Details

The Center for Cellular and Molecular Engineering (CCME) in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level.

The existing Center faculty has strengths in cell and molecular biology, developmental biology, stem cells, gene therapy, biomaterials, microphysiological systems, and tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. We are seeking candidates that can expand our research program to include the application of knowledge from these different areas for better understanding of musculoskeletal tissue development, growth, injury and disease processes, and formulation of therapeutic approaches for musculoskeletal tissue repair. Successful candidates will also be expected to be leaders of highly interdisciplinary research and perform academic duties associated with our S.S., M.S., Ph.D. and M.D. educational programs.

The primary responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining a nationally and internationally recognized experimental research program in the area of tissue regeneration
- Publishing in peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings
- Obtaining sponsored funding in support of research programs
- Advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students
- Participating in departmental and university committees
- Collaborating in research projects with other faculty from the CCME, as well as with faculty from other departments within the medical school, the university, and the scientific community
- Serving the profession through relevant professional activities.

Minimum requirements: candidate must possess a doctoral degree in the biological sciences or other closely related degree. Specialization in biomedical research in general and stem cell biology and musculoskeletal development are a must. A minimum of 4 years of post-doctoral training is also required.

Successful applicants must have a doctorate in a relevant area of science or engineering.
