Position Description

The Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a qualified candidate for a Research Technician position. The Department of Ophthalmology’s research mainly focuses on ocular immunology, infectious disease, molecular genetics, molecular biology of retinal disease and glaucoma, and advanced diagnostic imaging technology development.

The incumbent will perform experiments to study the effect of sustained release polymer formulations of common ocular drugs on cells and small animals.

Experiments will be carried out in the fields of tissue engineering, polymer chemistry, and analytical chemistry. This will include continuous evaluation of experiments and improve methodologies, as well as the analysis, recording, and interpretation of results.

The incumbent will also perform ordering and will prepare laboratory solutions, test materials, and reagents.

Use of Microsoft Excel and Word software. Experience in analytical chemistry, cell biology, tissue engineering, and/or bioengineering.
