Position Description

The University Center for Teaching and Learning seeks an energetic and talented individual for this key position as Business Manager.

A qualified candidate for this position will have outstanding interpersonal communication skills as this role is in daily contact with staff, faculty, administrators, students, and outside vendors.

Responsibilities in this professional-level staff position include budget management, planning, purchasing, financial analyses and human resources. Specifically, the incumbent will monitor budget activity and execute all facets of a large billing system, perform financial and statistical analysis, project costs, review income and expenditures, and prepare project plans and proposals.

The individual will also serve as the primary liaison to the Office of Human Resources and play an active role in the recruiting, hiring and on-boarding of new staff in the Center.

The Business Manager supervises two full-time staff as well as student employees. Supervision is provided by the Director of Teaching Center.

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 6-9 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Bachelor’s degree required. Excellent mathematical skills and some accounting knowledge necessary. Must have experience with Windows and be proficient in the use of Excel, Word, and PRISM.
Knowledge of University policies and procedures desirable. Experience in billing and accounting is essential. Must possess advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and of the University’s budget systems, including PRISM, PittSource and PantherBuy. Must possess good writing, communication and decision making skills.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
