Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified Energy Management System Coordinator.

The Energy Management System (EMS) Coordinator will be responsible for monitoring function and operation of the campus wide Building Automation System and associated mechanical equipment. The EMS Coordinator will (among other responsibilities) receive customer service calls and system generated alarms, assess and troubleshoot equipment sequencing issues, dispatch and support Stationary Engineers during system troubleshooting. Proactive responsibilities will include reprogramming existing sequences to meet new operational standards.

Related systems and area of responsibility consist of Building Automation and Energy Management, Utility Monitoring and Metering, Laboratory and Animal Facility Control, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Computerized Maintenance Management Software. As part of the Facilities Management Energy Operations Center, the EMS Coordinator is also responsible for suggesting and implementing energy conservation strategies through the Building Automation System.

The Energy Management Coordinator is required to possess a thorough knowledge of HVAC DDC controls and network communication protocols. In total, all systems include over 700,000 direct and virtual points that have a direct impact on all operations of the campus. The EMS coordinator must be able to field troubleshoot and report on situations as required.

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 6-9 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent related experience. 5-10 years experience with HVAC and mechanical system Building Automation controls.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
