Position Description

The Division of Gastroenterology in the Department of Medicine is currently seeking a Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator (CRNC) for the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Department under the direction of Marc Schwartz, MD. The position will coordinate clinical research activities, including industry and privately funded interventional, observational, and NIH funded protocols. Duties of the incumbent include screening and recruitment of patients, assisting in preparation of protocols and budgets, assisting with IRB preparation and submission, preparing for and coordinating study and providing direct patient care in accordance with multiple study protocols, maintaining all necessary records, and providing regular communications between the study Principal Investigator, patients, sponsoring agency, and other healthcare providers and researchers related to the studies. This position reports to the Senior Research Nurse Coordinator and Principal Investigator.

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 2-3 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Completion of nursing program and current PA RN license, a Master’s degree, and/or certification preferred.
A non-clinically trained individual is acceptable, with relevant Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred and/or specific certification and/or experience with conducting subject protocol visits, IRB and research protocol implementation experience. At least three years of clinical research experience may be substituted for advanced training.

Required Licenses/Certifications

RN and/or CRC or SOCRA certification

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
