Position Description

This Laboratory Assistant position will provide technical support to an NIH (National Institutes of Health) funded laboratory in the Dept of Medicine’s Renal-Electrolyte Division.

This laboratory employs methods from a variety of disciplines, including molecular biology, cellular biology, and physiology, to elucidate the molecular basis of electrolyte regulation. The incumbent will work closely with the supervisor and lab manager to assist in performing experiments, analyzing data, and maintaining the lab’s inventory, mouse colonies, cell lines, and safety records. The incumbent must be open to the possibility of working with animals (rodents and frogs).

The successful candidate will be a highly organized individual with good communication skills, who has the motivation and personality to work productively with others in a collaborative atmosphere.

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 1-2 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Must have a BS degree in the biological sciences (or equivalent experience) and the ability to critically read research papers in related topics.

Prior wet lab research experience is preferred.
