Position Description

The Assistant to the Associate Dean will provide secretarial assistance to the Associate Deans and the Director of Administration within the Dean’s Office in addition to handling routine office duties. The Assistant will be responsible for the following, in addition to managing the work of the Associate Deans/Director of Administration:

- administrative control of projects conducted by the Associate Deans/Director of Administration
- maintaining curriculum surveys
- coordinating meetings
- making travel arrangements
- coordinating catering for various functions
- completing University forms
- administering reservations for the Dean’s Office conference room

This position requires considerable knowledge of office practices and University policy and procedures. Extensive use of PC and the various software packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, and the PRISM/Oracle System). Internet Explorer knowledge is necessary. Independent judgment is crucial.

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 3-5 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is preferred. Experience in office procedures and practices are required. Effective written and oral communication skills are required.
Accurate typing skills and software knowledge are necessary. Good organization skills and ability to prioritize work is desired.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
