Position Description

The Clinical Research Coordinator will be responsible for clinical research activities related to obstetric anesthesia and women’s health. The general current areas of research focus are obstetric anesthesia and perinatal outcomes. The specific area of current focus is elucidating the relationship between peripartum pain and mood disorders. Specific responsibilities include:

-recruiting and retaining participants for a pKa lactation/breastfeeding study
- advising patients on lactation in the postpartum period to achieve successful sample collection
- patient screening, enrollment, administration of study procedures including but not limited to randomization and communication with care team staff, continued participant contact and relationship-building, and participant follow-up

Study procedures include but are not limited to quantitative sensory testing (training for this skill will be provided), data entry, data management, basic report generation, regulatory and compliance assistance, and participant follow-up. Also required are data collection and monitoring for completeness and accuracy of all enrolled patient encounters, participant payment, retrieving information and verification using clinical data systems, and other duties as needed or required. This position requires familiarity with medical terminology; the ability to work independently and within clinical teams to solve problems effectively; good communication and interpersonal skills; and fine attention to detail.

Bachelor’s degree required; preferred Nursing/Clinical Experience with Breastfeeding and/or Lactation Consultant experience.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
