Position Description

The Department of Critical Care Medicine (CCM) is seeking a full-time Application Developer who will provide programming support for web and client application development in an established clinical research data team.

The incumbent will design and construct complex applications for data collection and analysis related to clinical research studies and strategic departmental initiatives.

Primary duties include working as a team with research investigators and their groups to design and implement applications, database structures, and collection systems. Responsibilities also include assisting in the design and implementation of systems for flow and organization of data collection, laboratory specimen collection and inventory mechanisms, and procedures to extract and evaluate data. The incumbent will also produce data extractions, summaries, and reports (including constructing real-time reports using Crystal Reports and/or VBA).

Requirements include: bachelor’s degree in Information Science, Computer Science or commensurate education and experience. A minimum of 5 years of application development and two or more years of data management experience is desired.

The position requires a broad set of web development and data management capabilities and expertise. Experience related to medical research is a definite plus.

The incumbent is expected to have intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft, net framework, ASP.NET, and C# or VB.Net in addition to an intermediate set of data management capabilities in MS SQL Server and t-SQL. The incumbent must be highly analytical, and work well independently and as a team. Excellent communication and analytic skills are a must.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
