Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s Pharmacy and Therapeutics Division at the School of Pharmacy is seeking a Health Services Administrator to lead the Program Evaluation and Research Unit’s (PERU) state-funded initiative assessing new approaches to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT).
PERU is a large research, evaluation and implementation program that is embedded within the School of Pharmacy. Since its founding in 2006, PERU has expanded its program development and research to four areas: substance use disorder education and research; opioid use disorder prevention, intervention, and treatment; medication adherence; and organizational health for healthcare systems.

PERU has maintained steady funding from a variety of state and federal sources, and currently has approximately 40 staff.
PERU is dedicated to meaningful research and its contribution to a health system that facilitates a patient’s ability to achieve optimal health and well-being.
The incumbent will be responsible for integrating novel and innovative approaches in MAT implementation within various communities, involving both the general medical and specialty care systems to reduce deaths through overdose in Pennsylvania.

Additionally, the incumbent will continuously manage implement, and evaluate a large, complex, and innovative public health program. The program is statewide in scope and of large state and national visibility.

• Strong experience articulating complex thoughts to a variety of constituents, through diverse channels, tools and methods
• Proven success in overseeing, working within and guiding a team
• Intuition for organizing and motivating the hard work of dedicated stakeholders across many disciplines.
• High adaptability to new scenarios and information, with ability to quickly translate into action steps
• Deep understanding of healthcare systems, technicalities, and nuances
• Curiosity and desire for implementing, improving, and evaluating cutting-edge health services approaches

The position requires the incumbent to work in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team by directing, supervising, and mentoring personnel. Additionally, this individual is expected to become an expert in the delivery of healthcare and what motivates health systems, with quick understanding and readiness to implement new innovations.

Doctorate degree and experience in substance use disorder research is strongly preferred.
Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential. PMP certification is helpful.
