Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Research Data Analyst to assist the School of Pharmacy’s Program Evaluation and Research Unit (PERU) working on PERU’s state-funded initiative assessing new approaches to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT).

PERU is dedicated to meaningful research and its contribution to a health system that facilitates a patient’s ability to achieve optimal health and well-being. Since its founding in 2006, PERU has expanded its program development and research to four areas: substance use disorder education and research; opioid use disorder prevention, intervention, and treatment; medication adherence; and organizational health for healthcare systems.

This position will focus on opioid research. The incumbent will lead data management, data analysis, and the interpretation of data analyses on overdose death data and prevention efforts. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for providing advisement to the PA Heroin Overdose Prevention Technical Assistance Center (TAC) and to outside stakeholders on data specifications, data use agreements, and data representation. The position requires the incumbent to work in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.

The incumbent will be responsible for communication with county-level entities seeking assistance, conducting assessments of county-level systems, and gathering resources for developing overdose prevention initiatives. The incumbent will also be responsible for the expansion of the website, overdose data, and reporting to the funding agency.

An ideal candidate has a passion for the impact that this work has on a large scale coupled with the ability to analyze and effectively communicate data to a general audience.

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 1-2 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

- Master’s degree in statistics preferred.
- A degree in Mathematics, Engineering, or the Natural Sciences will also be considered.
- Experience with standard statistical programs, such as SPSS, SAS, STATA, Excel, is required.
- Experience in Tableau strongly desired.
