Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Child Welfare in Mechanicsburg is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Research and Evaluation Coordinator. The Research and Evaluation Coordinator functions as a member of the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Child Welfare Resource Center (Research Center) in the Research and Evaluation Department.

The Research and Evaluation Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of research and evaluation activities, including coordinating statewide data collection, implementing and monitoring data entry and quality assurance processes, and contributing to reporting.

The duties of the Research and Evaluation Coordinator currently focus on coordinating activities related to evaluating family engagement efforts statewide in the context of two projects, the Pennsylvania Child Welfare Demonstration Project and Pennsylvania’s Family Group Decision Making (FGDM) Statewide Evaluation. It is expected that the focus areas will evolve over time to include a variety of topics related to child welfare practice and related outcomes.

Statewide travel is required.

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 2-3 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field is required; Master’s Degree preferred.

A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the human services and/or administrative field is required. A minimum of 3 years’ progressive experience in planning, managing/coordinating and leading data collection, program evaluation, and/or applied research projects is preferred.

Must have excellent interpersonal, writing, collaboration, problem-solving, customer service, communication, analytical, and computer skills.

Required Licenses/Certifications

A valid driver’s license is required.

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
