Position Description

The Veterans Outreach Coordinator is a part of the Office of Veterans Services (OVS) team which provides support services to veterans and dependents across the University. OVS strives to ensure that veteran students experience a smooth transition from military to University life.

The Veterans Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for initiating, developing, and coordinating veterans outreach programs in conjunction with University departments, the veterans’ community, and military installations to increase veteran student enrollment at the University. The incumbent will be responsible for establishing relationships with prospective military-affiliated students and counseling them on academic opportunities, the admissions process, and how to apply for and use military education benefits. Other responsibilities will include serving as the first point of contact for new military-affiliated students, participating in outreach activities on and off campus, and representing the University to the veterans’ community and the public. The incumbent must provide excellent customer service to prospective students and their families.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

A bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of experience working in higher education outreach, recruiting, and/or admissions are required. Knowledge of Veteran Affairs education benefits is preferred.

Required Licenses/Certifications

A valid driver’s license or reliable transportation is needed for off campus events.

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
