Job Summary

This is an animal tech position in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences Shared Research Support Services. In the Life Science Annex animal facility, the incumbent will be required to
• Stock supplies
• Receive animals and prepare cages
• Clean and sanitize the caging and facility
• Remove trash
• Provide weekend animal care for the entire facility which includes rats and mice.
• Feed and water the animals including attention to diet regulations and sterilization of drinking water stock supplies
• Provide some assistance in medical treatment as directed by professionals.
• Keep of records associated with animal use and care

Job Requirements

The incumbent must be able to stand for long periods; bend and lift repeatedly; lift 50 pounds; and push/pull heavy caging equipment
Due to contamination concerns, individual cannot own any type of rodent or snake as a pet.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Some work experience would be helpful.

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.

Background Check For position finalists, employment with the University will require successful completion of a background check.
