Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s Panther Central Department is seeking a qualified Customer Care Specialist. This department consists of Housing, Food Services, Panther Central, the University Stores, and Conference Services.

This Department’s team is responsible for the maintenance, operations, and assignments for all on-campus residence halls and University-owned off-campus apartments. The Department also oversees three retail locations on campus – The University Store on Fifth, The Pitt Shop, and Maggie & Stella’s Cards & Gifts. Finally, the team provides concierge-level customer service through Panther Central, the 24/7 ID Center on-campus, and the Conference Services team. Behind the scenes, the team manages a variety of different areas within the Department such as Communications, Business Systems, Financial Operations, Human Resources, and Data Analysis in order to best serve our customers.

The incumbent will provide direct customer service and support to Panther Central. He/she will serve as the first point of contact to the public via the front counter (assist with questions, form completion, card production, etc.) and telephone; assist with administrative functions as required and/or requested. The incumbent will be responsible for data entry, data queries, and updating data in all applicable University systems; explain policies and procedures of food service, housing and ID cards to students, parents, faculty, staff and other visitors; be responsible for monitoring and reporting problems regarding lobby area to appropriate personnel.

This position’s work schedule will be: Wednesday through Sunday 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

Education Required High School Diploma or GED
Minimum Related Experience Level Required 2-3 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

This position requires two – three years experience in a customer service area.

Applicable experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
