Position Description

The Senior Associate Athletic Director for Sport Administration is responsible for the oversight of assigned sport program(s) within the University of Pittsburgh’s Athletic Department. As Sport Administrator, the incumbent will provide daily guidance to sport program(s) and coaches regarding team management, administration, operations, compliance, and other related matters. The Sport Administrator will serve as the primary liaison for assigned sport program(s) and coaches to all Athletic Department units and other internal and external stakeholders in order to facilitate business for the coaching staff, team, and student-athletes. The Sport Administrator is responsible for the overall administration of the assigned sport program(s), which includes but is not limited to budgetary, compliance, scheduling, and policy and procedure management. In addition, the Sport Administrator will collaborate with the Sport Administration team and other Athletic Department leadership regarding the design and establishment of shared and sustainable visions, plans, and standards related to the sport program(s) and the Athletic Department. Other responsibilities include regularly evaluating the needs and resources of assigned sport program(s) and coaches, program and department expectations, performance, administration, compliance and other related areas. The Sport Administrator must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills. In addition, the incumbent must demonstrate strong organizational and analytical skills and the ability to exercise independent discretion and judgement. Minimum of 6 years of experience in the operations of a college athletic department (or related field), preferably at an NCAA Division I institution.

A bachelor’s degree is required, and a master’s degree is preferred.

Minimum of 6 years of high level experience in the operations of a college athletic department, coaching (or related field), preferably at a NCAA Division I Institution.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
