Position Description

Senior Lab Specialist will apply problem-solving skills and best judgement to address unique situations. Confers with researchers and faculty regarding research needs and methods. Assists in the writing or proofreading of research articles and protocols. Responsible for the overall supervision of lower level research technicians; performs and documents experiments; participates in experimental design and long-range planning; training and hiring of other technicians; inventory maintenance, purchasing and budget; laboratory equipment maintenance, research facilities, and service contracts. Coordinates and schedules visits from sales representatives for product and equipment demonstrations. Maintains all regulatory standards for the University including, but not limited to IACUC, DEA, IRB, IBS, hSCRO, and ACURO. Provides assistance with CV/biosketch preparation for grant applications/progress report, and presentation of research findings at meetings and conferences.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Candidate must possess a college degree (BA or BS) in science or related field with completion of science courses and/or relevant experience in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or other closely related disciplines.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
