Position Description

The operating engineer is responsible for properly operating all mechanical systems, performing selected preventative and corrective maintenance duties as directed, monitoring and operating building automation system hardware, software and sensors and components. This position requires a class A City of Pittsburgh Stationary Engineers License, Universal CFC Certification and a minimum of five years experience as a licensed stationary or operation engineer, a minimum of three years experience monitoring and operating building automation systems controlling a large and complex physical plant. Operator must have experience with computer based energy management systems and DDC control Incumbent must be mobile around campus. Be able to lift 50 pounds, crawl into confined spaces, including manholes and utility tunnels as well as maneuver around small areas and be able to lift equipment and supplies. Incumbent may be required to work shifts and must join a union

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
