Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s Research Support Services is seeking an NMR Assistant to assist the Director in the day-to-day operation of the Pitt Chemistry NMR facility, which comprises of eight high field spectrometers from 300 to 700.

The main job responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Performing weekly liquid Nitrogen fills to the magnets.
- Assisting the Director for Helium fills.
- Regular shimming of the probes.
- Assisting in spectrometer testing and software/hard disk upkeep.
- Providing training to new NMR users.
- Assisting users with queries related to NMR.

Education Required Baccalaureate
Minimum Related Experience Level Required 1-2 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Familiarity with NMR Spectroscopy is helpful. Familiarity with Bruker NMRs is preferred.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
