Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition is one of the leading gastrointestinal centers in the country. The Division is committed to providing the best of tomorrow’s medicine today. We are seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator for an inflammatory bowel disease research program that aims to elucidate disease mechanisms and identify targets for novel therapies.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who would like to be a key member of a research team that works at the interface of clinical, genetic, genomic, and immunology research disciplines.

Duties of the incumbent span a variety of clinical research coordination tasks including, managing institutional review board protocols and communications, recruiting human study subjects, recording demographic and clinical information about study subjects and obtaining biosamples from them, completing requisitions for study subject payments, and assisting with other research program needs that may arise.

The incumbent will interact with the Principal Investigator, study subjects and their healthcare providers, collaborators and other research staff, institutional review board staff, and research administrative staff.

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or similar field. 3-5 years of experience interacting with patients in a clinical setting either as a healthcare provider or clinical research staff member, and experience with phlebotomy are required. Experience with managing institutional review board protocols and communications is desirable.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
