Position Description

The Department of Epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Research Assistant/Interviewer. This position is responsible for participant recruitment in a clinical setting, conducting participant telephone interviews, and providing electronic reports of attempted and successful contact with potential study participants. The incumbent will also serve as the backup staff member responsible for collecting and processing blood according to the methods defined in the research protocol, specimen short-term and long-term storage, shipping, labeling, and recording specimens; and operating simple lab equipment, such as a centrifuge.

NOTE: The hiring range is for full-time positions and will be prorated based on 60% effort.

Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
