Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh National Network of Libraries of Medicine Web Services Office (NWSO) is currently looking for an Assistant Web Developer.

This position is responsible for working with the Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator to maintain and enhance National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM)’s LMS and configure a new LMS for the NIH All of Us initiative. The incumbent will possess strong programming and coding skills with knowledge of Linux/Apache servers, SQL, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS; the ability to learn new languages and tools is also beneficial to continued development. Additionally, the Assistant Web Developer is responsible for helping to manage 508 compliance with the systems.
The position requires an independent, self-motivated programmer who can research, install, and configure Moodle plug-ins to expand NNLM’s LMS capabilities while ensuring all new functions meet or exceed HHS security standards and are 508 compliant. The incumbent will also work with the Executive Director and Web Services Manager to enhance the NNLM and All of Us Drupal installations and the NNLM WordPress installation.

The position will report to the Executive Director but will work closely with the LMS Administrator and the Web Services Manager to create balanced workloads, cross-train, and provide coverage for vacations and sick time.

Degree in Information Science, Computer Science, or other related field.

Technical qualifications: Linux/Apache servers, SQL, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS.

Associates degree with two years of experience can be substituted for degree requirement.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
