Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Psychology is seeking an Undergraduate Advisor. This position will provide academic and career advising. In addition, he/she will assist in developing and conducting programs, resources, and departmental events. The incumbent will be involved in the coordination of undergraduate experiential learning opportunities and will manage the advising office email account, email distribution list, and voice mail. Other duties will include sharing the responsibility for walk-in advising and phone coverage, certification of students for graduation, and serving as the Psychology Department representative in meetings with A&S department advisors, University departments, and prospective students.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Master’s degree in a Higher Education or related field strongly preferred, or a combination of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree. Familiarity with the field of Psychology and the workings of a psychology department preferred, given that the majority of contact will involve Psychology majors, Psychology department graduate students and faculty, and Psychology department personnel.
