Posting Summary | The School of Computing and Information at the University of Pittsburgh welcomes applications for a pool of adjunct faculty, non-tenure track, positions. Applicants will be selected from this pool throughout the 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years (including summer semesters), when there is curricular need. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the School. Position appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance. Minimum Qualifications | The minimum basic qualification is an advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D. or equivalent degree) and/or at least five years of relevant professional experience in a technical, social science, or interdisciplinary field such as Information, Information Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Political Science, Sociology, Law, or Economics at time of application. |
Preferred Qualifications | The adjunct faculty will have teaching and/or research experience in at least one of the following areas: Object-Oriented Programming |

About the School/Department | The University of Pittsburgh School of Computing and Information is answering a worldwide call for more professionals who are capable of building next-generation information systems; enabling users to find the right information; and guiding organizations and governments in sharing, preserving, and protecting data and data sources. Combining the faculty expertise, staffing, students, and degree programs of both the School of Information Sciences and the Department of Computer Science, the new School of Computing and Information will provide students with greater opportunities and exposure to multidisciplinary learning. We offer undergraduate and graduate programs in Information Science and Computer Science, as well as graduate programs in Telecommunications and Library and Information Science. Through a combination of rigorous coursework and hands-on experience, these programs help prepare students to become leaders in the information and computing fields. Our faculty are constantly engaged in leading-edge research, which is funded by organizations such as the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the United States Army, and Google Inc. With these projects, our faculty are working to help people to live better and longer, to protect information, to build more vibrant communities, and to preserve our history and culture. The School of Computing and Information is a new school for a new era that is harnessing the power of both computing and information to further knowledge discovery across the University’s campus, the region, and the world. |
