Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified Research Technician within the Starzl Transplantation Institute at the School of Medicine. The research efforts are focused on understanding the mechanisms of immune rejection of transplanted organs in non-human primates, and to uncover ways to prevent this rejection. We are looking for a highly motivated, organized, fast learning and responsible individual who is able to work both independently and as part of a team. The incumbent will perform laboratory techniques such as PCR, ELISA, tissue culture, and routine molecular biology and immunological assays. The incumbent should be highly motivated to learn, detail-oriented, able to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently. He/she will provide some technical support for large animal procedures performed by the team, including post-operative care. This individual will assist with manuscript/grant preparation and technical protocol writing and collect, organize, and analyze research data. Sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and exceptional interpersonal skills are a must.

Bachelor’s Degree in biological sciences or a related field.
