Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Medicine is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant. This position will be responsible for providing support to the research projects of the Division of General Academic Pediatrics. The successful candidate will assist the research team in identifying potential research subjects, reviewing medical records, and collecting and processing urine, blood, and other specimens according to the methods defined in multiple research protocols and established standards and practices.

The incumbent is responsible for processing and organizing research samples for short-term and long-term storage and shipping; labeling and recording specimens; operating simple lab equipment, such as a centrifuge; delivering specimens to other departments and other duties directed by the division’s Clinical Research Manager.

TB test and PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check will be required as a condition of employment. EEO/AA/M/F/Vets/Disabled.

College degree required. One year of research experience working with human research participants is preferred. The ideal candidate must be organized, have the ability to learn new techniques quickly, and be a team player.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
