Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh Admissions and Financial Aid Office is seeking a qualified California Enrollment Services Manager to recruit prospective freshman and transfer students from these areas to the University. This is done through a variety of methods including high school and community college visits, college fairs, conducting admissions presentations, managing electronic recruitment correspondence, and coordinating/assisting with on- and off-campus recruitment programs. The Enrollment Services Manager communicates daily with prospective students and families and manages events designed to develop relationships with high school and community college counselors. The Enrollment Services Manager will coordinate undergraduate recruitment activities with University alumni in these areas.
This position serves prospective undergraduate students in the California area. The incumbent must be willing to serve and travel within these areas to visit high schools and community colleges. This position may require additional travel within the state and the continental US for recruitment and/or other meetings. Therefore, the position requires the ability to handle trips of various durations.
The incumbent will act in the capacity of an Admissions Counselor in which the primary responsibility is the dissemination of information both University-wide and to the public regarding undergraduate admissions. The incumbent must possess superior telephone, communication and interpersonal skills, and a working knowledge of University protocol, policies, and procedures. The incumbent must also have knowledge of high schools and community colleges in this area(s). Additionally, he/she will conduct informational interviews and deliver presentations primarily to students, parents, high school counselors, and community college counselors.
This will be a proactive, customer-service oriented position. This is a highly visible and important advocacy position for the University. The incumbent must be a self-starter who can work independently without close supervision. Furthermore, the incumbent must be willing to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. He/she must be willing to work late evening and weekend hours as necessary throughout the year.

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 2-3 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience; good communication, organization, and decision-making skills, and knowledge of admissions and financial aid procedures.
Preferably a minimum of two years of experience working with students and families in a University setting, involving carefully honed decision making and administrative skills.
A valid driver’s license and a good driving record are required.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
