Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Linguistics is seeking a qualified Program Administrator.

The Program Administrator will serve as the English Language Institute (ELI) Administrator. The incumbent will mainly be responsible for managing the daily office and facility operations within the ELI. Responsibilities include managing budgets and projections, engaging in purchasing related to ELI operations, and preparing cash reports. Additionally, the Program Administrator will act as the principal liaison with facilities management and repair services. He/she will be responsible for student recruitment and the marketing of the ELI. Some foreign travel may be required to meet with agents to negotiate and contract independently with them. Also, the incumbent will oversee the admissions process, supervise the Administrative Assistant and student workers, and will work closely with the ELI director, faculty and staff and the Administrator of the Department of Linguistics to fulfill the mission of the ELI.

Attention to detail, accuracy, and good oral and written skills are essential. The incumbent must work well with multicultural individuals with low levels of English language fluency. The candidate must have problem-solving skills, be dependable and reliable, and have strong interpersonal skills.

Must be culturally sensitive and able to communicate with international students and agents with low levels of English language ability.
