The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a student employee for classroom support. The Fanny Edel Falk Laboratory School is a K–8 school affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh. It is located just minutes from the Peterson Events Center. We were founded in 1931 upon the concept of providing a progressive, experimental and individualistic learning environment. For more than 80 years, Falk School has celebrated the joy of learning.

We are looking for responsible individuals who enjoy working in a school environment to provide classroom support for our makerspace, WonderLab. Under the WonderLab faculty guidance, the individual will assist with day-to-day WonderLab support and any other tasks as needed.

General duties include helping to organize tools and materials, keeping up with inventory, assisting in the maintenance and cleanliness of the space, and preparing of materials.

Job Requirements

-Some wood working and general tool experience is preferred but not necessary.
- A willingness to learn 3D-printing, sewing, knitting, and wood shop are highly preferred.
- Ability to follow instruction, meet deadline and comply with safety guidelines.
- Ability to exercise flexibility, initiative, good judgement and discretion
- Ability to work well independently as well as a team
- High level of comfort interacting with children, families and guests when necessary.

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.

2 or 3 hour blocks between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
