The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a student employee. The Pathophysiology Graduate Instructor Assistant (GIA) for the undergraduate Rehabilitation Science course, REHSCI 1250 will facilitate case study discussions with small sub-groups of students; help to facilitate quizzes and exams; have the opportunity to contribute to part of at least one lecture.

The GIA is expected to attend a weekly meeting with the instructor and undergraduate instructor assistants, to coordinate class activities and review material. Assistants must review text readings, case studies, supplemental literature, and any other course materials prior these weekly meetings.

The GIA will be responsible for participating in the grading of student work (multiple choice quizzes and exams) and assessing (formally and/or informally) student contributions to case study discussions. The assistant will be expected to deliver at least one class lecture that aligns with his/her area(s) of expertise and/or interest.

Other duties, including clerical tasks, as required by the instructor.

Job Requirements

Current graduate level student at the University of Pittsburgh, must have a deep understanding of the basic science foundations (biology, chemistry and physics) of human physiology and a working understanding of the course content.

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
