Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s Division of Surgical Oncology is seeking a Research Technician in the Damage Associated Molecular Pattern (DAMP) Laboratory. The focus of this translational research laboratory is how disordered cell death and programmed cell survival (autophagy) influence the immune response in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. The technician for this position should have experience with tissue culture, sterile technique, immuno-assays, handling human tissues, and performing small animal studies and general lab procedures. A working background in molecular cloning, biology, and immunological techniques including flow cytometry is preferred.

The incumbent must be highly organized, able to maintain timely laboratory records, and have good communication skills. The incumbent will have responsibility for the day-to-day functioning of the laboratory. He/she must be willing to be a part of a research team and aid with the technical aspects of research projects being carried out by other investigative personnel in the laboratory. The incumbent will be required to create, submit, maintain, and monitor lab adherence for all regulatory protocols (IACUC, rDNA, EHS).
